Summer Update

Whew! What a busy spring and summer it has been. The steers braved the wet spring that Vermont had and are now enjoying the green fields that summer has given them in return. We have 29 new calves and they have been fun to watch as spring and summer bring them new adventures such as…new fields (and electric fences), new friends (and de-horning) and summer sun (and a cows’ constant companion – flies). We love watching them grow up!
Have you visited us at the Farmers’ Market yet?! If not, you should! Ben and Helm have been busy this summer, attending close to 6 markets every week. We bet there is one near you, check out our Markets page and find out more details. If a market isn’t in your schedule then come by the farm! We are slowly, but surely, putting the finishing touches on our retail meat room, right here in East Hardwick. When finished, our product will be organized by freezer and will be a great place to do your shopping!

Well, out we go to prepare for the arrival of new group of piglets…but we will leave you with the words of a very satisfied Shelburne Market customer:

“Well we finally found it . A product that reminds me of my own years ago. Thank you so very much for coming to the Shelburne Farmers market and making my great beef dreams come true. We will be there in two weeks for much more. And the promise of pork too!!! The hamburger was soooo good. Thanks a million.”

Thank you!

Spring is in the air!

Well, actually it is currently snowing a bit here in East Hardwick, but our thoughts are looking to Spring! We currently have 15 calves from surrounding dairy farms and they are doing great! The oldest 8 went outside for the first time yesterday. Its always so fun to watch them romping around enjoying the sunshine and spring air. With the weather changes this weekend, they are huddled up in their own barn with fresh hay and deep sawdust, staying warm together.

In other news, we are also looking forward to the up-coming season of Farmers Markets! We are entering some new markets, along with keeping our regular markets of Stowe, Waitsfield and South Burlington (Health Living). New this year are the Shelburne Farmers’ Market and 5 Corners Farmers’ Market in Essex. Check our market page for more information and links to those market pages.
